Roland has been associated with Words & Numbers as either an employee or business development partner since 2007. His responsibilities are to build client relationships and partnerships with publishers and other content creators across the educational spectrum.

Roland is a 35-year publishing veteran whose senior management experience ranges from content creation to sales and marketing and international rights.

He began his career with Wiley and McGraw-Hill in the UK and moved to the US with Macmillan, holding a number of positions in both the computer publishing and trade reference divisions, working with brands such as Betty Crocker, Frommers Travel, Websters New World Dictionaries and Que computer books. Roland subsequently joined Hungry Minds, best known as the publisher of the Dummies and Cliffs Notes brands, and a market leader in both technology and trade publishing. Following a period as CEO of Coriolis, a major player in IT certification publishing, Roland spent six years as President of Content Connections, a market development/ research company focused on the higher education market and online feedback and audience analysis.

Roland received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern History from the University of Durham in the UK.
